While I scroll through the bands, I always encounter conversations that make it hard to understand. Let's say, for example, someone who called CQ on 7.032.830 received an answer on 7.032.850, and the one who answered stayed there 20Hz off the entire QSO. Now I do admit I am but a humble infant in the CW world. But when I do make contacts on CW, I zero beat with the sender.

Much has been written and published on this subject, some of which is at the links below. If you don’t have a spectrum scope on your rig, train yourself to listen carefully to the rig’s sidetone. Since there are inaccuracies in some VFO frequency displays, don’t trust the readout.
